Questions, answered properly

Including the answers that might talk you out of buying. We would rather you were sure.

It will look like a very good example of your dog's breed. We sculpt to the written breed standard, so colour markings, a docked tail, or one ear that never quite stood up are not reproduced. Owners of well-typed dogs are usually startled by the resemblance. Owners of mixes are better served by a commission. Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly which applies to you.

Yes. Solid bronze, cast one piece at a time and finished by hand. The weight in your hand is the quickest way to tell. We do not sell resin, cold-cast composite, or anything plated over something cheaper.

Because the colour comes from the metal reacting with the air, and that never runs identically twice. Two of the same breed sit at slightly different points depending on when they were made and where they have lived since. Within the same size and finish they still read as a matched set, they are just not identical copies.

Warm is lighter with golden highlights and sits well in rooms with oak, brass, and warmer tones. Dark is deeper and reads more like classical sculpture, which suits white shelves and darker woods. Same dog, same price, same hand finishing. Both keep deepening with age.

Classic, about 2.5 inches, is the one we suggest starting with, since the breed still reads clearly from across a desk. Petite, about 1.25 inches, closes inside your hand and is the easiest way to build up several dogs. Grand, at 4 inches, is the collector's piece, where every modelled surface is fully legible. Collecting several dogs? Keep them all one size.

Add it to the waiting list, since that list is genuinely how we choose what to sculpt next, and we release two to three new breeds a month. If you do not want to wait, a commission is $4,995 and runs four to six weeks.

Two to four business days from the studio. Standard delivery then usually takes three to five business days within the continental US. Expedited options appear at checkout.

Free standard shipping on every order within the continental US. International shipping is calculated live by weight and destination.

Yes, to most countries. Duties and import taxes are the recipient's responsibility and are not included in our prices. Bronze is heavy, so international shipping is not cheap, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Thirty days from delivery, in the original packaging, for any reason at all, including simply not liking it in the room. Commissions are the exception, since they are made specifically for you, but you approve the sculpt before anything is cast.

Photograph the piece and the box and email us. A replacement goes out immediately, and we do not make you pay to return the damaged one.

Tell us the date in the order notes and we will confirm whether it is realistic. We would rather say no in advance than miss a birthday.

The dry cloth in your box, and a soft brush for the fur texture around ears and paws. Nothing else is needed.

Household sprays, alcohol, vinegar, and metal polish. Polish will cut through years of patina in a single pass, and it takes years to come back. Also avoid steamy bathrooms, where standing moisture spots the surface unevenly.

Yes, slowly. It deepens all over and brightens where your fingers land, so it ends up marked by how often you pick it up. Most owners prefer it a year in. If you would rather keep it close to how it arrived, a light coat of wax once a year slows it right down.

It will survive, but we would not. These are indoor pieces. Outside, the colour changes much faster and far less evenly, especially where rain collects in the fur texture. Indoors it changes at a pace that is actually pleasant to watch.
